The new version of Microsoft Office for Windows available to the UConn community is Office 365 Pro Plus.
Office 365 is a subscription service that ensures you always have the most up-to-date modern productivity tools from Microsoft. As opposed to Office 2019 which is a one time install with no upgrade options.
Your options for installing Office 365 Pro Plus are dependent on whether your computer is managed by ITS or not.
If your computer is managed by ITS, please put in a ticket with your request to have Office 365 Pro Plus installed on your computer.
If your computer is not managed by ITS then you can download a copy of Office 365 Pro Plus from the University Email website.
Log into Office 365 and click on “Install Office” and then “Office 365 apps”
If you currently have Visio 2016 and Project 2016 installed on your computers, you may lose access to them if you install Office 365 Pro Plus in either of the above scenarios.
The versions of Visio and Project 2016 that were made available to the community are not compatible with Office 365 Pro Plus.
The ITS Managed install of Office 365 Pro Plus will uninstall Visio 2016 and Project 2016.
The Non-ITS Managed install of Office 365 Pro Plus will fail to install when it detects Visio 2016 and Project 2016.
Visio and Project 2016 (both standard and professional) are not compatible with Office 365 Pro Plus. You will need to purchase Visio 2019 and/or Project 2019 through the Microsoft order form.
If you purchased a license for Visio 2019 and/or Project 2019 recently and were given the 2016 versions, please be prepared to provide us with your purchase email.
